On August 11, 2023, the CNHFA conducted a working meeting in Harbin to perform a technical review of the “Guidelines for Monitoring Cronobacter spp. in the Production Environment of Infant Formula Powder”. The meeting was attended by Bian Zhenjia, President of the CNHFA and a member of the Standards Management Committee, as well as Jiang Yujun, Vice President of the CNHFA and also a member of the Standards Management Committee. Distinguished guests included Yin Shian, a researcher from the Institute of Nutrition and Health at the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); Deng Shaowei, an acknowledged expert in the CNHFA; Mao Xueying, a Professor at China Agricultural University (CAU); and Li Wenjun, Deputy Director of the Law and Standards Committee of the CNHFA. Representatives from Wondersun and Mead Johnson, two enterprises, were also in attendance.

Professor Man Chaoxin of Northeast Agricultural University, representing the drafting group, provided an overview of the standard’s development. Delegates then shared their insights and suggestions, considering the scientific and practical aspects of the standard. Following a thorough discussion, the technical review of the standard received unanimous approval.

The next steps involve the standard drafting group incorporating the experts’ suggestions to enhance the standard’s content. The CNHFA’s Standards Secretariat will then submit the revised standard for approval and publication by the Standards Management Committee.

This standard was initially established on April 9, 2021, with significant contributions from Northeast Agricultural University, Neogen (Shanghai) Co., and Heilongjiang Feihe Dairy Co.
