Li Liangqiu (Tracy Li) Invited to Attend Online Seminar Organized by GA Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research

  On 31 March 2023,Li Liangqiu(Tracy Li),Executive Vice President of the CNHFA,was invited to participate in the online seminar'Regulation of Natural Products-a Global Challenge'organized by the GA Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research.Opening and closing remarks were given by Professor Anna Rita Bilia and Professor Olaf Kelber.

  First of all,Tracy Li presented'Regulations in China Governing the Sale of Medicinal Plants and Products Made with Medicinal Plants'.She then shared details of the CNHFA's practices and experiences in promoting policy and regulation development,industry research,and international exchange and expansion in China's special food industry.

  Next,Professor Funda Nuray Yalcin from Turkey gave a lecture entitled'Regulation of Herbal Medicinal Products in Turkey',presenting the current situation on the regulation of botanical medicines in Turkey from the following perspectives:regulatory authorities,industrial sectors within the scope of regulation,and key regulations and standards.She stated that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is in charge of the regulation of dietary supplement products in Turkey,overseeing the registration,production,labelling and promotion of dietary supplement products.

  Finally,Dr Ana Cecília Carvalho of the the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency(ANVISA)spoke on the topic'Regulation of Herbal Medicinal Products in Brazil',explaining the Brazilian National Policy on Medicinal Plants and Herbal Medicines(NPMPH)and the National Policy on Integrative and Complementary Practices(NPICP).

  The seminar attracted more than 100 online attendees and the three speakers patiently responded to questions from the floor after discussing their respective topics,speaking with a particular focus on the similarities and differences in the policies applied to the regulation of natural products in China,Turkey and Brazil.
