‘Talks on the Four Novelties’workshop was developed by the CNHFA with the aim of promoting the high-quality development within the industry by sharing science basics and translational pathways of the four novelties,namely novel ingredients,novel processes,novel functions and novel products.

　　As a part of the event,the CNHFA organized a workshop in Beijing,held on 9 January,to exchange views on issues related to Human Milk Oligosaccharides(HMOs).Representatives from new resource food applicants and infant formula companies were invited to present HMOs'basic concepts and mechanisms of action,safety and nutritional requirements,information on overseas regulations,and future application prospects.

　　The following guests were also invited:Mr Liu Songtao,Deputy Director General of the Special Food Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation;Ms Li Xiaoyu,Director of the Infant Food Registration of the Special Food Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation;Ms Liu Xiaoyi,First Class Researcher of the Infant Food Registration of the Special Food Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation;Ms Long Jihong,Director of the Food Review Centre,and Mr Yang Bo of Jiangnan University.
