The China Nutrition and Health Food Association (CNHFA) held the seminar on the registration and technical evaluation of infant formula and food for special medical purposes (FSMP) in Wuxi on 7th May . The seminar mainly drew attention to the member units’ main problems and listened to their comments and suggestions on the registration and evaluation process to make their registration and application more scientific, complete and standardized.

　　

　　The seminar was presided by Xuecong Liu, secretary general of the CNHFA. Qingwu Guo, deputy director of food evaluation center of State Administration for Market Regulation, Jihong Long, director of infant formula registration department, Shaowei Deng, director of FSMP registration department, Yujun Jiang, vice-chairman of the CNHFA and professor of Northeast Agriculture University, Jiangsu Health Food and Cosmetic Safety Association(JSHFCSA) ,Jiangsu Food Production Safety Association(JSFPSA), 38 infant formula companies and 65 representatives from companies manufacturing food for special medical purposes were present at the meeting.

　　

　　In the meeting, Qingwu Guo,deputy director of food evaluation center of State Administration for Market Regulation introduced the purpose and background of the meeting, the general condition of the technical evaluation for infant formula and food for special medical purposes, the main problems and the communication forms. Jihong Long, director of infant formula registration department and Shaowei Deng, director of FSMP registration department of State Administration for Market Regulation introduced the registration process of infant formula and food for special medical purposes respectively, explained the main problems of the registration and the application materials, gave the relevant comments and suggestions and discussed the issues brought forward by the companies including the change of use level form of infant formula (the details of the compound raw materials and their names), the quality safety standard for raw and auxiliary materials, the definition of listed companies and newly applied companies, the requirement of registration and evaluation, the inspection method, the requirement of stability material, the change of formula or product, the requirement of packing materials and other technical evaluation work.
